Happy Thanksgiving from Keystone Exteriors — And Why We're Thankful for Strong Roofs, Warm Homes, and Great Customers

11/26/2025

Thanksgiving is a time to slow down, gather with the people who matter most, and appreciate the things we often overlook throughout the year. At Keystone Exteriors, we spend most of our days fixing roofs, repairing siding, replacing gutters, and helping homeowners protect their investment. But this week, before the holiday rush officially begins, we want to pause and share a genuine thank you to the customers, families, and communities that make our work meaningful.

So from all of us at Keystone Exteriors — Happy Thanksgiving!

But in true Keystone fashion, we’re also turning this greeting into a helpful seasonal blog. Because while Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude, it’s also the start of winter in Chicagoland… and this is when your home needs the most protection.

Below are a few things we’re especially thankful for this year — and why they matter for keeping your home safe during the cold months ahead.

**1. We’re Thankful for Warm, Dry Homes

(And the Roofs That Protect Them)**

As families gather around the table for turkey, mashed potatoes, and football, your roof is working overtime.

Cold winds, freezing temperatures, and early snow all put stress on roofing materials. Even a small issue — loose shingles, clogged gutters, or early ice dam formation — can lead to leaks at the worst possible time.

This Thanksgiving weekend, here are a few quick things to look for:

  • Wet spots on ceiling drywall

  • Shingle granules showing up in gutters

  • Drafts or cold spots in upper floors

  • Frozen gutters or icicles forming early in the season

If you spot anything unusual, it’s better to have it checked early rather than waiting for a full winter storm.

2. We’re Thankful for Strong Siding That Keeps the Cold Out

Your siding acts like the insulation shell of your home. When temperatures drop into the 20s and wind chills hit the single digits (which is just a normal Chicago winter), siding damage becomes more noticeable:

  • Warping

  • Cracks

  • Loose boards

  • Gaps where cold air sneaks in

Many homeowners don’t realize this, but siding plays a huge role in keeping energy bills under control in winter. Any gaps allow heat to escape — meaning your furnace works harder and your bills climb higher.

We’re grateful every time we help someone restore their siding before winter really hits. It truly makes a difference in comfort and cost.

3. We’re Thankful for Gutters That Handle Heavy Snow Melt

Thanksgiving often marks the beginning of freeze-thaw cycles. That’s when ice melts during the day, refreezes at night, and begins slowly tugging on your gutters.

Working gutters mean:

  • Water flows away from your foundation

  • Ice dams are less likely

  • Your roof edge is protected

  • Basement leaks are reduced

We’ve seen everything from gutters bent by giant icicles… to gutters clogged with leaves… to baseballs lodged inside downspouts (yes, it happens!).

A quick check now can prevent a cold surprise later.

4. Most of All — We’re Thankful for YOU

This year, we’ve had the privilege of helping homeowners all across Chicagoland. Every repair, every inspection, every emergency call — we’re honored to be the team you trust.

We appreciate:

  • Your referrals

  • Your positive reviews

  • The photos you send

  • The conversations on your driveways

  • And the simple “thank you”s after a job well done

We don’t take any of it for granted.

Our team works in cold wind, summer heat, rain, and snow — and every day we’re reminded that we’re not just fixing roofs… we’re keeping families safe, warm, and comfortable in their homes.

5. A Thanksgiving Message From Our Team

As you carve the turkey, watch football, host family, or relax at home this week, we hope you enjoy every moment. The holidays can be busy, loud, and full of activity — but they’re also a reminder of what really matters.

So from our Keystone Exteriors family to yours:

Happy Thanksgiving!

May your home stay warm, your roof stay strong, and your holiday be filled with gratitude, peace, and plenty of great food.

If you need anything before winter hits — inspections, repairs, or just a quick question — we’re here and happy to help.
